Petrology and geochemistry of volcanic and volcanoclastic rocks from Zhob ophiolite, North-Western Pakistan

چکیده
The Zhob ophiolite is divided into Ali Khanzai, Omzha, and Naweoba blocks. geology comprises various lithological units including basalt–chert hyaloclastite mudstone units. consist of thick lava pelagic sediments. On the basis petrology geochemistry, lavas unit can be tholeiitic basalt, trachybasalt, basaltic andesite dacite, that more alkaline foidite, picrobasalt, tephrite-basanite. rocks have a flat N-MORB-normalized pattern with enrichment Th depletion Nb compared to other immobile elements thus indicate subduction zone component in rocks. They chondrite-normalized REE patterns typical N-MORB. depleted HREE N-MORB similar those OIB. Our geochemical results suggest may formed supra-subduction setting while are intraplate was influenced by component. therefore likely represent floor branch Ceno-Tethys Ocean obducted over Indian Plate passive continental margin during Late Cretaceous.
